The Sunny 16 rule operates on a simple premise: under sunny conditions, one should set the aperture to f/16 and adjust the shutter speed to match the reciprocal of the film speed. For instance, if the film speed (ISO) is set to 200, the appropriate shutter speed would be 1/200 with an aperture of f/16. However, considerations arise when altering shooting conditions, such as when using different apertures like f/8 or when shooting under varying levels of daylight. The Sunny16 app addresses these complexities with ease, allowing users to explore various settings with just a touch.
